IT Audit Bootcamp | 26-28 Jan 2010

In today’s complex business environment, computer systems have become the ‘life-blood’ of the business, running everything from accounting to logistics, manufacturing and production planning. No reputable business today can claim to exist without IT systems.  Yet many auditors, who are not from an IT background, have very little knowledge of the risks and impact that poorly set up and managed IT systems can have on their organizations.  As a result of this, fraud and other risks involving IT systems are almost never detected by an internal audit department with the result that stakeholders are not provided with the value that is expected of this control function.

This intensive 3-day workshop, packed with case studies, is designed specifically for business auditors who wish to understand the issues pertaining to an audit in a complex and highly computerised environment. Starting from basic concepts, you will then progress to learn how some of the more complex IT audits are carried out by seasoned professionals using tools that form part of a hacker’s arsenal.  [WARNING: THIS IS NOT FOR DISHONEST AUDITORS!!].  You will learn, hands-on, how some of the more complex network auditing techniques can be applied in a lab environment, through ‘real-world’ case studies, to add value to the IT audits that you can conduct in your own organization.  You will learn how to assess ‘real-world’ business risks that impact IT environments that will enable you to perform a ‘thinking’ audit, moving away from the common ‘checklist’ approach that most people who call themselves “IT Auditors” are accustomed to doing.

This HANDS-ON Workshop is designed to enforce your learning by providing visual aids, ‘live’ demonstrations and case studies to assist in greater understanding and appreciation of IT concepts considered ‘alien’ to a non-IT auditor. You will have the opportunity to SEE how some common hardware components function and how software works in the real world that will provide you with the basic knowledge that will improve the way you do your audits on IT systems.

This course includes an ON-SITE VISIT to a major disaster recovery centre in the Klang Valley.

An experience NOT TO BE MISSED and a practical learning approach that you can take back to your organisation for immediate application. Course takeaway include IT audit programmes and FREE audit tools to help you in discharging your function more effectively. This course is ideal for business auditors who would like to break into the challenging and exciting world of IT Auditing.
